CHARLOTTE - Roberta (Thorpe) Hagar, 57, of Charlotte, wife of Henry Hagar, and mother of Kate Hagar and Heidi Wilcox, and grandmother to Benjamin Wilcox, died April 15, 2002.
Bert was born Dec.23, 1944. She lived her life in Charlotte.
She was the daughter of Lucy (Williams) Thorpe and Roy Greer Thorpe (both deceased), sister of Marcia (Thorpe) Stone of Charlotte, and Bruce Thorpe of Reeds Spring, MO.
Bert attended Charlotte Central School, Lyndon Institute and Champlain College. Her career was her family and she worked part-time at Charlotte Central School and more recently Shelburne Country Store.
Bert loved all seasons and found beauty around every corner. She devoted long hours to her gardens and we all reaped the benefits of her talents and gifts. Her flowers and bouquets were a testament to her joyful, loving spirit. The first robin, the peepers, birds, flowers and plants will forever carry her spirit for us.
Mischievous and quick of wit, Bert will be rememberred for her resounding giggles and howls of laughter. She added sparkle and joy to everyone's day.
Bert loved golfing, working out at the Shelburne Athletic Club and her seasonal trips to Lake Rosa.
Bert was an angel to so very many people. Her straight talk and benevolent heart were an inspiration to us all.
We will miss our "Mum, Granny B, the Wease and our Bertie."
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in the North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church, 227 Old Hollow Road, North Ferrisburgh. Arrangements are by Shelburne Funeral Chapel, 209 Falls Road, Shelburne. Contributions may be made for a memorial garden in Roberta's memory to Marcia Stone, 138 Wildwood West, Charlotte, VT. 05445. |
